Superintendent's Welcome

Dr. John Magers

Excellence Is Our Tradition is not just another flowery school motto, but rather, an accurate description of the focus and commitment found here at Taylor Community School Corporation.
I am Dr. John Magers, superintendent, of a vibrant, student-focused, parent-friendly school district  where high performance is the expectation within the confines of a small learning community.    Taylor’s strength lies in being a place where students are known by their teachers and are  challenged to achieve at high levels.

From pre-school to our 21st century Taylor Titan New Tech High School, students will receive the  personal touch from an outstanding group of teachers, administrators, and support staff.  It is this combination of expertise, talent, and relationship building that has developed a school system where high performance is the norm.  The accolades for Taylor Schools continue to accumulate.    In the latest round of state testing, Taylor registered some of the highest scores in the area.  For example, the seventh grade was highest in the county in the number of students passing both the English and Mathematics tests.  Taylor Intermediate School continues to be recognized annually as a Top Gainer in the state.  Taylor Primary School is demonstrating outstanding academic gains with all of their students and will soon be one of Indiana’s Four-Star schools.  Then, there is the flagship of the district, Taylor High School, which is excelling in many areas including one of the best graduation rates in the area.  The high school is now home to a truly 21st century learning model, Titan New Tech.  Do not let the name of the school mislead you.  This is not just about technology; it is about learning for the present and for the future.  State Superintendent, Dr. Tony Bennett, has publicly recognized Taylor New Tech High School as one of the leading 21st Century high schools in the state of Indiana.  Come in and see something very special.  Call the high school, and schedule a tour.

Whether you are new to the area or simply browsing the web site, there is much for any student to gain here at Taylor.  From academics to extra-curricular activities, now is the time to begin your own tradition of excellence.
